My research examines the political construction and (ab-)uses of statistical indicators. Most of my previous research has focused on international economic statistics. Many of the dynamics observed in that research are very similar to how numbers are being employed in current responses to the covid-19 crisis, including the downplaying of statistical uncertainty in public communications.
