Expert Statement

I am specialized in the development of self-regulation, in both typically developing children as well as in high-risk families, characterized by parental psychopathology or socio-economic difficulties. I explore how parenting and other social relationships shape regulation of cognitive and emotional processes that help children function according to social norms and rules. Specific research topics in parenting are sensitivity and discipline. Specific research topics in children are emotion regulation, inhibition, delay of gratification, and frustration tolerance.
